Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau

Yosemite Mariposa County is the marketing organization for the county of Mariposa, situated just southwest of Yosemite Valley. As Art Director on this project while working at Augustine, I designed the iconic logo and media kit, and collaborated on development of the brand, print collateral, video, digital display ads, brand guidelines, and transit graphics for the Animal Campaign.

The logo showcases the American black bear as a symbol of Yosemite National Park while giving a nod to the bear that appears on California’s state flag. The black bear represents tranquility, strength, fortitude and tenacity. Half Dome, the most recognizable natural feature of Yosemite National Park, is revealed in the negative space of the bear’s underbelly.

The Yosemite Mariposa County Logo was designed to be fluid – its background changing and adapting according to the seasons and the intended use.
